The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) announced today that it will be executing a non-reimbursable Technical Cooperation for $ 630,000 which was recently approved by the Republic of Korea within the framework of the Korea-CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF) with the object of carrying out studies that identify the feasibility of developing the railway network of Line 5 of the Panama Metro.
This donation will strengthen the institutional capacity of the Metro de Panamá SA Company, operator of the lines, and will allow the carrying out of activities of great importance such as the analysis of market demand for Line 5, soil and hydrological studies, geological and geotechnical.
Likewise, recommendations will be issued on the preliminary designs of civil works, the selection of technologies for rolling stock, passenger capacity and the operations and maintenance of Line 5, among others.
It is expected that the execution of this cooperation and the development of this important project will benefit a total population of 1.9 million people, and promote greater and more equitable urban mobility with better access and lower costs, contributing to the transformation of the economy. from the country.
The execution of this initiative is scheduled to begin during the second quarter of 2021.
