The Panamanian government began the construction for the Fourth Bridge over the Panama Canal, an investment calculated at $1.3 billion dollars. The President, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, made an inspection visit to observe the progress of the construction of the Fourth Bridge and the progress of the execution of Line 3 of the Metro, two megaprojects designed to improve the mobility of more than 2 million of people, and are expected to generate hundreds of jobs.

According to official information, the main bridge is cable-stayed to cross the Panama Canal Navigation Channel, it has a main span of 485 meters and a total length of approximately 965 meters between the expansion joints.
The main bridge deck includes six vehicle circulation lanes each 3.65 meters wide, plus two shoulder spaces of 2.40 meters and 1.25 meters on the outer and inner edges respectively. And the cross section will allow the roadway to be expanded to four lanes in the future.

It is estimated that the project should be ready in four and a half years.
