The city of Panama was recently ranked as the 4th best city for expats by InterNations, a global online community for international workers. A total number of 12,000 participants took a survey that evaluated 53 cities worldwide to determine the best destinations for expatriates. The findings highlight Panama as the top choice in Latin America.
The survey assessed cities across five key areas: quality of life, ease of settling in, work opportunities, personal finances, and essential aspects of expat living. Based on these factors, InterNations compiled the Expat City Ranking 2024.
For 2024, Valencia, Spain, claimed the top spot as the best city in the world for expatriates. It’s joined by two other Spanish cities—Málaga and Alicante—which round out the Top 3.
Latin America is well-represented in the Top 10, with Panama City ranking fourth and Mexico City securing the fifth spot. These cities continue to attract expatriates thanks to their vibrant cultures, cost of living, and overall quality of life.
