Panama Metro’s Line 3 Progresses: Reaches 47% Completion in Key Western Sector Project

The third line of the Panama Metro, a crucial project for the western part of the country, is now halfway done, as reported by the project administration.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. (Hyundai E&C), part of the Korean HPH Joint Venture Consortium, is actively working on over 28 fronts simultaneously, according to updates shared by the Panama Metro on social media.

This significant undertaking, with an investment totaling $2,844,096,495.89, aims to connect the country’s interior with the capital city. Construction kicked off on February 22, 2021, and the project is slated for completion within 54 months.

In its initial phase, Line 3 will span 24.5 kilometers, featuring 14 stations from Albrook to Ciudad Futuro. The route includes a 5.3-kilometer underground section. Notably, China Railway Tunnel Group (CRTG), the subcontractor, will oversee the tunnel boring machine’s operation during this phase.

Once completed, this project is expected to cut the average travel time during peak hours from 90 to 45 minutes, providing significant relief for commuters.
