HOSTAL MORRILLO

This is the only hostel on the beach at Playa Morrillo, in the district of Mariato, Province of Veraguas. It is a titled beach front property located right on the beach front at Playa Morrillo, the most consistent beach break for surfing in Panama.  It is very rare to find titled properties in this coastal area, and being the only business on the beach makes it a rare find.

The property faces South-South-West, and offers spectacular sunsets. Sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach at night, and you can witness the baby turtles running down the beach to the ocean for the first time - an amazing experience. There is a natural blow hole that blows the water up hundreds of feet in the air when the powerful waves blast against the rocks, just a few hundred meters from this property. Behind the blow hold is an incredible natural sand bottom lagoon, where you can enjoy this marvelous experience in nature with your loved ones or guests. 

Playa Morrillo will undoubtedly become Panama’s top surf town, similar to Playa Colorado in Nicaragua, or Playa Hermosa in Costa Rica. The Morrillo beach is pristine, virgin, natural and raw, and the surf here is world class, super consistent and absolutely amazing, with warm water all year long, and offshore winds half the year during the dry season.  30 minutes from the town of Mariato and 1.5 hour drive from Santiago City & airport (45 minute flight from Panama City to Santiago).

This hostel is the only one located in front of the beach, at playa Morrillo.  The property is completely off grid using solar power, and has polished concrete floors, with tile cladding in the shower area and wood in the multi-use area, with a fiber cement roof (tejalit) over solid wood structure. Kitchen has double stainless steel sink embedded in tile-lined concrete counter-top. The restrooms have imported appliances and complete sinks. The walls are made of plastered blocks and painted on both sides, with a half-height tile covering. The windows are fixed glass in wooden frames. The bar area has a wooden top and furniture of similar material. In front of the beach it has 8 bedrooms each with independent bathroom and 4 additional rooms, with the restaurant bar area, full solar system, water well, water pump, septic tank and drain.

This is a one of a kind property, in a very special place. The government is currently investing millions in infrastructure in this area, new road from Santiago to Morrillo beach, plus new schools, and revamped electric power grid, among other improvements. All of that will boost prices in the near future. Expect great things to happen in Playa Morrillo in the future.
