There is a lake on the main route. The climate is quite cool and it is the preferred weekend retreat for nature lovers who want to escape the heat. It is an important poultry area. Las Nubes and Los Altos de Cerro Azul have notable expatriate communities of primarily North American origin. Cerro Azul has obtained worldwide media coverage.

The house is located in Altos de Cerro Azul, an urban development located 800 m above sea level, on the slopes of Cerro Jefe.
